Christian Communicators Need Not Worry About Coming Storms
Christ followers working together in the media arena need not worry about the onslaught of evil when focusing on God and fellowship.

That’s the message many came away with from the annual National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) Conference in Orlando, Florida, this week. More than 4,000 media types attended the 4-day event that ended on Thursday.
From journalists to influencers of all genres who love the Lord, we are not only trying to live out our lives in an increasingly hostile environment but thrive. We should be prepared for the coming storms, whether the source of evil is embedded or periphery.
For Franklin Graham, it’s not only a series of storms, but The Storm. “The storm is coming,” Franklin, the son of Billy Graham, said during the opening session of NRB.
“If you stand for Christ the world hates you. If you’re wanting the world to slap you on the back and say, ‘Good job!’ get over that. Something’s wrong if they do that,” Franklin said.
Near the end of the conference and expo, journalist and NRB panel moderator, Billy Hallowell, gave Media on Mission his takeaway (one of many).
“There is an incredible power in having all of these communicators together,” Hallowell said. “These are Christian communicators from across ministries, media, really the entire Christian stratosphere coming to one place. There is such a fellowship. From a professional standpoint it’s incredible and amazing.”
What is our purpose as communicators?
To honor God.
“Professionally it’s all amazing but beyond that, spiritually it’s an incredible opportunity to come together and share in a message that not only do we all believe so intently in our hearts but we are working together to get that message out to the world in different ways,” Hallowell said.

Jack Hibbs, who was at NRB to launch the Real Life Network, and as one of many pastors and Christian leaders attending, said, “The number one thing about NRB 2023 has been the remarkable ability to network. Never has it been more fruitful than to network with those who are actually in the trenches. All of us coming together to do the same thing. To get out the name of Jesus, the Word of God, and to make disciples.”

Many authors also gather and showcase their newest works.
“Being here does feel like a dream come true,” Julia Gentry, the author of Dream I Dare You, said. Her takeaway includes, “shaking hands with global impact and people who are here to preach the gospel and to see Jesus’ name shine brighter in these darkest of times.
“I want the Church and the Body of Christ to know that we should not grow weary in doing good. Do not stop doing what God has asked you to do. I hope this week at NRB has produced a ripple effect.”
